Franzblau Strabismometer

(:pricing Power adapter 120 VAC 60 Hertz |$35.00 :)

Developed by Dr. Stephen C. Franzblau, OD, and manufactured by Wayne Engineering, the Franzblau Strabismometer is a high-tech, accurate, and patient-friendly instrument based on the Hess Lancaster Test. Its primary function is to provide accurate subjective measurements of phorias and tropias at distance.

The Franzblau Strabismometer is an illuminated screen showing a horizontal and vertical grid printed in black on a green background. Nine green lights, one in each of the cardinal meridians, can be illuminated one at a time. The patient wears anaglyph glasses and points a hand-held laser flashlight at each light as it appears. By comparing the position of the red spot from the laser with that of the light, the practitioner can measure the deviation accurately to within one prism diopter.

The Franzblau Strabismometer can determine the concomitancy of deviations, identify A or V pattern deviations and anomalous correspondence, and measure the accommodative component of deviations. It is an excellent tool for demonstrating to parents the magnitude of a child's deviation, especially in angles of 12 prism diopters or less which are not cosmetically noticeable. It can provide reliable results for children as young as four years old.
